Description

The Indian Health Service, Navajo Area, Crownpoint Service Unit (CPSU) in Crownpoint, NM intends to restrict competition and negotiate an award with Henry Schein (UEI: D6MTSKS115L9) for the purchase of (2) dental vacuums. The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code assigned to this procurement is 339114 Dental Equipment and Supplies Manufacturing In accordance with RFO 12.102(a), for acquisitions valued at or below the Simplified Acquisition Threshold, competition will be restricted to Henry Schein in preparation for Joint Commission Readiness. Crownpoint Service Unit is currently preparing for Joint Commission survey activities and must ensure that dental treatment areas meet applicable standards for equipment functionality, infection prevention, and patient safety. CPSU must install two (2) dental vacuums located at Pueblo Pintado Health Clinic (PPHC) prior to and in preparation for Joint Commission readiness. PPHC currently utilizes dental vacuum system that was supplied by Henry Schein. Procuring the same manufacturer and model of dental vacuum equipment provides significant operational and technical advantages to CPSU. Standardization of equipment throughout the clinic promotes consistency in operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and staff training. Clinical and maintenance personnel are already familiar with the existing Henry Schein dental vacuum system, minimizing the need for additional training and reducing the risk of operational errors. A determination by the Government on whether to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competition or proceed with a single-source award.
