Description

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) intends to award a purchase order to The University of Arizona for mineral separation, high-N zircon U-Pb geochronologic analysis, and Lu-Hf isotopic. Award will be made in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation FAR Part 12 Acquisition of Commercial Products and Commercial Services. The University of Arizona is, to the USGS knowledge, the only source that offers high-throughput, high-N zircon analysis with simultaneous Lu-Hf isotopic measurement in split-stream mode using advanced instrumentation configurations (e.g., Neoma and Element2 or Neptune and iCAP systems). This capability allows for paired U-Pb age and Lu-Hf isotopic data to be collected from the same zircon domains in a single analytical workflow, which is essential for maintaining data integrity and scientific validity. The purpose of this notice is to satisfy the requirements of FAR Subpart 5.203. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However, all responsible parties may submit a capability statement by the closing date of this announcement which shall be considered by the agency. No solicitation will be issued. A determination not to compete this action based upon responses received is in the sole discretion of the Government. NAICS Code 541380 - Testing Laboratories and Services Responses or inquiries shall only be accepted through electronic mail addressed to victor_nuno@ios.doi.gov and must be uploaded and received in their entirety no later than 06/9/2026 1200 PM Eastern time. Responses submitted by hardcopy or the SAM.gov portal shall not be accepted or considered.
