Description
Cape Cod Space Force Station (CCSFS) is an active-duty military installation containing ground-based radar systems critical to National Security. The Power Generation Microgrid project will be con?structed within the grounds of CCSFS in fa?cilities which are in restricted areas requir?ing enhanced security protocols. The im?pacted facilities are to remain occupied throughout construction with minimal dis?ruption to the mission requiring precise construction phasing of all project elements. The Power Generation Microgrid project is programmed within the Department of the Air Force Energy Resiliency, Conservation, and Investment Program and all work is in alignment with the resiliency goals of the program such as integrating a battery en?ergy storage system with an existing wind turbine and meeting the Uptime Institutes Tier IV redundancy criteria for all mission critical systems. Additionally, the project will upgrade the facilities protective barrier against High Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse events. Other major features of the project include the complete replacement of all fa?cility systems located in the onsite power generation plant, providing new back-up power assets with enhanced microgrid con?trols, and installing electrical duct banks throughout the site. The final microgrid configuration will incorporate all new equipment such as diesel-powered genera?tors, uninterrupted power supplies, critical and non-critical power distribution re?sources into a cohesive control scheme for prolonged mission reliability. All work must be executed to minimize disruptions to mis?sion critical operations and impacted pro?tective HEMP barriers.
